What should I get you, dad? It seems to be a question that every father is asked at some point in the year. Whether it's your children, your lover or your wife nobody ever seems to know what you want or need. With Father's Day just around the corner, the editing team at 50plus decided to try and answer this question.
We reached out to some of the father's that we know and ask them what they wanted for Father's Day. The answers we got we're surprisingly similar.
" Never been one for gifts, to be honest, a card and knowing my children are fit and healthy."
"Out for dinner with the family."
"Peace and quiet!"
I leave presents for birthdays .. but being taken to the movies is always nice.."
"For Father's Day, I like a full English breakfast."
"Spending time with the kids... Quality time is important when you always seem to be working."
We know it's not scientific, but it seems to us at least amongst the dads we know, that Father's Day isn't about things, it's about love, showing love and being loved. Love is not an emotion that every man (and certainly many men over 50) find easy to express, but it's something we all want and need. So if you're reading this and you have a dad in your life show him some love on Father's Day. Take a moment to tell him how special he is and take some time to show him just how much you care.
Being dad isn't always easy. Even though they may have biological children, some men just can't do it. It's not simply about biology, it's about the time and commitment you make to the young people in your life. For those of you who have made the commitment here at 50plus4men.com, we salute you and wish you a very happy and restful Father's Day 2021.
